BACKGROUND:
Fleet Services is recommending the purchase of one piece of mowing equipment from Vieth Tractor through an interlocal agreement with the Omnia purchasing cooperative. This piece of equipment will be used by the Parks Department. This purchase consists of one Lazer Z X-series mower, which is used to maintain athletic fields in the City.
Mowing units in the City's fleet have an average life expectancy of 5 to 6 years. The useful life is dependent on several factors, such as wear and tear, service application and the load/capacity. The unit being replaced has been in service for at least 7 years and is being retired based on age, wear and tear and maintenance.
The Parks Department has selected a Lazer Z X-Series mower as the replacement mower. This mower is available from Vieth Tractor through the Omnia purchasing cooperative. This cooperative entity meets all state of Texas competitive bidding requirements.

10% Contingency (if needed) $ 6,946.57
Total Price $76,412.33
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
The equipment will be purchased from budgeted funds from the Fleet Replacement Fund.
IMPACT ON COMMUNITY SUSTAINABILITY:
Purchasing equipment such as this ensures that City employees have the resources necessary to do their job, which is a City Council strategic goal.
