Consider Approval Of BID #24-040 From Vlex Construction, LLC For The Bowie Drive Alley Reconstruction Project In An Amount Not To Exceed $379,900.00.

BACKGROUND:
This bid is for the concrete reconstruction of the alley located on the north side of the 2200 block of Bowie Drive using funds from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. CDBG is funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development to assist residents and areas within the City that are of low to moderate income. The Bowie Drive alley reconstruction project meets these criteria. The alley reconstruction will benefit the surrounding community by providing improved alley infrastructure and a safer driving surface.
On April 8, 2024, the City issued BID #24-040 for the Bowie Drive Alley Reconstruction Project. Bid notifications were posted online, interested vendors were contacted and advertisements were placed in the Dallas Morning News. The bid closed on May 1, 2024. Ten vendors submitted responses.
The Public Works Department reviewed the submissions and selected Vlex Construction, LLC based on the lowest responsive bid.

The funding for this project is available from CDBG and capital funds from the following accounts:

This project supports and aligns with City Council’s goals and objectives of properly maintaining the City’s infrastructure.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION/ACTION DESIRED:
Staff recommends that City Council approve BID #24-040 from Vlex Construction, LLC for the Bowie Drive Alley Reconstruction Project in an amount not to exceed $379,900.00.
