Title
Consider Approval Of The Purchase Of A Water Meter Testing Bench From Ford Meter Box Company In An Amount Not To Exceed $120,000.00.

Body
BACKGROUND:
This request is for the purchase of a new and updated water meter testing bench to improve meter testing accuracy and reduce unaccounted for water loss.

In the FY24 budget, City Council approved an addition to the base budget (ATB) for a new meter testing bench. The current meter testing bench has been in service since 1986 and needs to be replaced with an updated system to ensure the accuracy of testing results and for public health and safety reasons. This new technology will allow Public Works to be more efficient in its water meter testing process, produce a more robust breakdown of meter accuracy and reduce unaccounted for water loss. The new meter testing bench will be fully automated and remove any human error in the testing process. The new testing equipment will also remove the lead solder from the testing system and keep the City in compliance with state regulations.

In May 2024, the Public Works Department obtained a quote from Ford Meter Box Company, a sole source provider, for the purchase and installation of a new meter testing bench. Ford Meter Box Company provided a quote of $120,000.00.
