Body

BACKGROUND:

This is a request for approval of a Special Use Permit (SUP) to allow an “Event Center and Reception Hall” in an approximately 5,500 square-foot lease space located at 2155 Marsh Lane, Suite 200.

The applicant indicated that approximately 3,220 square feet is available for the event center and reception hall.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION/ACTION DESIRED:

On June 6, 2024, the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended DENIAL of the request. The applicant submitted a written request to appeal the Commission’s decision and requested the case be scheduled for the August 6, 2024, City Council meeting. A three-fourths (3/4) affirmative vote by all members of the City Council is required to overrule the Commission’s recommendation of denial.

Staff is recommending denial of the SUP request; however, should the City Council approve the SUP, the attached ordinance provides staff’s recommended stipulations for Council’s consideration.
