BACKGROUND:
Fleet Services is recommending the purchase of two pieces of mowing equipment from Vieth Tractor through an interlocal agreement with the Omnia purchasing cooperative. These pieces of equipment will be used by the Parks Department. This purchase consists of two Lazer Zdiesel 72 Ultra Cut series mowers, which are used to maintain grass fields around the City.
Mowing units in the City's fleet have an average life expectancy of 5 to 6 years. The useful life is dependent on several factors, such as wear and tear, service application and the load/capacity. The units being replaced have been in service for at least 5 years and are being retired based on age, wear and tear, and maintenance.
The Parks Department has selected the Lazer Zdiesel 72 Series Ultra Cut mower as the replacement mower. These mowers are available from Vieth Tractor through the Omnia purchasing cooperative. This cooperative entity meets all state of Texas competitive bidding requirements.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
The equipment will be purchased from budgeted funds from the Fleet Replacement Fund.
IMPACT ON COMMUNITY SUSTAINABILITY:
Purchasing equipment such as this ensures that City employees have the resources necessary to do their job, which is a City Council strategic goal.
