Consider An Ordinance Amending Chapter 73, “Traffic Schedules”, Schedule I, Sections (A)(5), (A)(7), And (A)(8) By Revising The Effective Times Of The School Zones.

SUMMARY:
The purpose of this item is to amend schools zone times to align with the recently released LISD school schedules.
Background:
This ordinance amends the school zone times for middle and high schools within the Lewisville Independent School District (LISD) to reflect changes made to the district's bell schedules for the 2026-2027 school year. The revised school zone times apply to Arbor Creek Middle School, Creek Valley Middle School, and Hebron High School. City staff identified revisions to the middle and high school schedules while reviewing the district's published school calendar on the LISD website in preparation for the upcoming school year. As a result, this ordinance is being presented later in the summer than is typical to ensure the City's school zone times accurately reflect the current school schedules by the start of the school year.

Financial Implications:
Funding to remove, replace, or install school zone signage and equipment can be accommodated in the annual operating budget.

Staff Recommendation/Action Desired:
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt an ordinance amending Chapter 73 Schedule I, Sections (A)(5), (A)(7), and A(8) of the Carrollton City Code.
