Background:
Fleet Services recommends purchasing one Vermeer CV573GT hydro excavation trailer for assignment to the Public Works Department. This equipment will enhance the Stormwater Division’s ability to perform safe and precise excavation needed for maintenance, compliance, and infrastructure‑management activities. The division routinely encounters buried culverts, utility crossings, blocked pipes, and other subsurface features that require careful exposure for inspection or repair. Hydro excavation significantly reduces the risks associated with traditional mechanical digging, including utility strikes, soil destabilization, and damage to stormwater infrastructure.
Financial Implications:
This vehicle will be purchased using previously budgeted funds from the Stormwater Fund.
