BACKGROUND:
Fleet Services is recommending the purchase of two pieces of mowing equipment from Textron E-Z-Go LLC through an interlocal agreement with the BuyBoard purchasing cooperative. These pieces of equipment will be used by the Parks Department. This purchase consists of two Jacobsen HR 600 series mowers, which are used to maintain grass fields around the City.
Mowing units in the City’s fleet have an average life expectancy of 5 to 6 years. The useful life is dependent on several factors, such as wear and tear, service application and the load/capacity. The units being replaced have been in service for at least 5 years and are being retired based on age, wear and tear, and maintenance.
The Parks Department has selected the Jacobsen HR 600 Series mower as the replacement mower. These mowers are available from Textron E-Z-Go LLC through the BuyBoard purchasing cooperative. This cooperative entity meets all state of Texas competitive bidding requirements.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
The equipment will be purchased from budgeted funds from the Fleet Replacement Fund.

IMPACT ON COMMUNITY SUSTAINABILITY:
Purchasing equipment such as this ensures that City employees have the resources necessary to do their job, which is a City Council strategic goal.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION/ACTION DESIRED:
Staff recommends City Council authorize the City Manager to enter into an agreement for the purchase of two Jacobsen HR 600 mowing units from Textron E-Z-Go LLC through an interlocal agreement with the BuyBoard purchasing cooperative in an amount not to exceed $156,029.76.
