Background:
In an effort to meet federal air quality standards, NCTCOG has embarked on a major signal retiming program. The goal of the Regional Signal Retiming Program is to reduce delays and number of stops at traffic signals throughout the region, thus reducing vehicle emissions and resulting air pollution. NCTCOG is partnering with local municipalities, and providing funding, to improve signal timing along arterial streets. The section of Josey Lane between Trinity Mills Road and Fyke Road was selected for signal timing improvements as part of this program.


Financial Implications:
The total cost of signal timing improvements is $85,800. The City of Carrollton will be responsible for a local match of $14,520. Funds for the local match are available from Traffic Consolidated Fund.

Impact on Community Sustainability:
This project will support the City Council’s strategic objectives and vision of building a community that families and businesses want to call home through signal timing improvements which result in increased mobility and reduced fuel usage, emissions and delays. Improvements in mobility and reduced costs associated with delay, fuel usage and vehicle emissions are critical components to the economic vitality of the community.
