Title

Consider An Ordinance Amending Title V, Chapter 50 Solid Waste And Recycling Of The City Of Carrollton Code Of Ordinances By Adopting Revisions Related To Solid Waste And Recycling Collection Services; Providing For Penalty.

Body

BACKGROUND:

The proposed revisions to Chapter 50 of the City of Carrollton’s Code of Ordinances include: adding and clarifying definitions, aligning ordinances with best practices, referencing and updating certain requirements with other existing ordinances to remove conflicting requirements, defining an allowable volume for bulk and brush waste, and allowing brown kraft bags to be placed at the curb when filled with yard waste for disposal. These proposed amendments were reviewed and discussed during the Council work session on January 7, 2025.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:

These changes will help optimize processes for both citizens and staff, bolster City Council’s goal to provide more economical services, and position the city to secure a competitive and cost-effective agreement for waste hauling services.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION/ACTION DESIRED:

Staff recommends Council adoption of the proposed amendments to Ch. 50 of the Code of Ordinances regulating solid waste and recycling.
