BACKGROUND:
Carrollton City Hall was originally constructed approximately thirty-four years ago. Since that time, the City has experienced a significant increase in population and has continually adjusted its workforce to serve the citizens. In an effort to maintain a productive and efficient working environment, a program was implemented approximately five years ago to make a number of updates to City Hall.

In 2020, new LED lighting, ceiling grid, electrical, IT, painting and furniture replacements were made to the first and second floors. Concurrently, the IT Department installed new two intermediate distribution frame closets on each floor which connected to the data center central core. Finally, a new fire alarm system was installed with new wiring circuitry, panel, detectors and notification devices.

In continuance of this effort, similar improvements are planned for the lower level with additional modifications to improve the function and security of the IT Department and equipment. Additional security enhancements are also planned in the first and second floor lobbies along with exterior security and operational upgrades.

Since the project will involve considerable modifications to the building's mechanical systems, it is necessary to utilize the services of design professionals. Additionally, since City Hall must maintain services during the upgrades, a detailed phasing plan must be developed.
