Briefing On The RAIDS Online Crime Reporting System.

BACKGROUND:
The purpose of this worksession agenda item is to allow the Police Department to provide the City Council with a demonstration of the RAIDS Online GIS crime reporting system.
 
The Police Department is working to improve communication and increase community awareness in regard to crime reporting and information through improved web-based crime reporting tools.  Working toward that goal, the Police Department has joined other area police agencies in data sharing with RAIDS online.
 
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
This is a worksession item for the purpose of briefing the Council.  The RAIDS Online crime data sharing site is provided at no cost to the Department.  
 
IMPACT ON COMMUNITY SUSTAINABILITY:
The Police Department and the City can benefit from a safer community and improve community relationships through more effective crime data reporting.  The RAIDS Online system also provides an efficient and accurate direct access method of providing crime information to the community
 
STAFF RECOMMENDATION/ACTION DESIRED:
Staff seeks to brief the City Council in regard to the described project.
