Consider An Ordinance Amending Title XIII, Chapter 130 Of The Carrollton City Code Regarding The Regulation Of Sex Offender Residency By Adopting Definitions To Align With The Texas Code Of Criminal Procedure

BACKGROUND:

The proposed revisions to Chapter 130.24 of the City of Carrollton’s Code of Ordinances by adding and amending the offenses that require registration for all sex offenders to include any offense a person is required to register on the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Sex Offender Registry under Article 62.001 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure; revising definitions to be consistent with the language in Article 42A.453 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure.

 

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:

There are no financial implications.

 

STAFF RECOMMENDATION/ACTION DESIRED:

Staff recommends Council adopt the proposed amendments to Chapter 130.24 of the Code of Ordinances making it unlawful for certain sex offenders to reside within 1000 feet of a child safety zone.
