Body

BACKGROUND:

This is a request for approval of a Special Use Permit (SUP) to allow a short-term rental (STR) on a single-family residential property located at 2706 Brookshire Drive.

On January 27, 2025, the applicant requested a continuance to the March 4, 2025, City Council meeting as the applicant was unavailable to attend.

Public comments were received.

On February 4, 2024, the City Council opened the public hearing and continued the case to the March 4, 2025, City Council meeting.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION/ACTION DESIRED:

On January 2, 2025, the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended APPROVAL of the request. However, staff received written protest on the rezoning request, signed by the owners of 20 percent or more of the area of the land immediately adjoining the subject property and extending 200 feet therefrom. Therefore, the rezoning request shall not become effective except by the favorable vote of three-fourths (3/4) of all members of the City Council (i.e., a minimum of 6 votes needed in support).

Staff recommends approval with stipulations.

The attached ordinance reflects the action of the Commission.
