Body
BACKGROUND:
This agenda item is to seek authorization to sell property to the City of Dallas for use as a sedimentation pond water intake. This sale consists of one tract of vacant property (known as Weaver Tract Lakes) being 230.4 acres of land, more or less. Exhibit A describes the exact amount of land proposed for the sale. Exhibit B shows the location of the parcel. The City of Dallas has provided a full appraisal establishing the fair market value of the property at $312,000.00.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Proceeds from the sale $312,000.00 will be deposited to the Solid Waste Fund as these are the funds that bought this land in 1991.
IMPACT ON COMMUNITY SUSTAINABILITY:
An asset with limited utility will be removed from the city's balance sheet and no longer require maintenance or upkeep. The city will also be relieved of the liability of a large area of unsupervised lakes and ponds.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION/ACTION DESIRED:
Staff recommends the approval of the attached resolution authorizing the City Manager or his designee to sell the tract of land as outlined in Exhibit A.
