BACKGROUND:
The property owner and developer of Carroll Crest have requested a grant through the Tree Removal and Replacement Program to remove three trees under the power lines along Crosby Road. The trees have been affected beyond the point of rehabilitation from pruning by Oncor. These trees and stumps will be completely removed and replaced by ornamental trees that will grow outside of the area maintained by Oncor.

City Council amended the program criteria on April 16, 2024, to provide grant eligibility for trees that are located on private property, are in a strategic location and have been affected by excessive trimming. The City Council Re-Development Committee has reviewed the initial proposal and determined that it meets the intent and eligibility requirements of the Tree Removal and Replacement Program. Grants under this program are performance-based. The grant amount is $52,691.75.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
The property owner is eligible for a grant not to exceed $52,691.75. The grant is receipt reimbursable. Funding is available from the Tree Reforestation Fund.

IMPACT ON COMMUNITY SUSTAINABILITY:
This project will enhance an entryway into the City along Crosby Road and support the re-development of the surrounding area.
