Consider Approval Of The Purchase Of Five (5) Chevrolet Bolts For The Environmental Services Department From Lake Country Chevrolet In An Amount Not To Exceed $152,635.00.

BACKGROUND: Fleet Services is requesting the purchase of five (5) Chevrolet Bolts assigned to Environmental Services. The existing vehicles will be replaced due to Fleet policy on age, mileage and repair costs. The vehicles being replaced are three (3) hybrid vehicles and two (2) trucks with an average age of twelve (12) years. These vehicles will be used daily for transporting staff to and from job sites around the city. Each of these recommended additions are being made after discussions with the department to properly align vehicle specifications with current business needs.
The City of Carrollton adopted a Clean Fleet Vehicle Policy in 2005. The City also supports the NCTCOG initiatives to reduce emissions in the metroplex area. Switching to fully electric vehicles should reduce gasoline consumption by 25,000 gallons over a ten-year period. That number is variable based on the number of miles driven by the department.
Quotes were obtained from several Chevrolet dealerships. Staff recommends purchasing these units from Lake Country Chevrolet.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
The above referenced vehicles will be purchased from budgeted funds from the Fleet Replacement Fund.

Classic Chevrolet Grapevine: $183,991.00

Purchasing vehicles such as these ensures that City employees have the resources necessary to do their job, which is a Council strategic goal and reduces emissions.
