BACKGROUND:
On behalf of the Old Downtown Carrollton Association (ODCA), ODCA President Paula McDonald has requested the City's aid in providing support for office space in one of the two remaining vacant live/work units at the Union at Carrollton Square. ODCA has been unable to find affordable available space in Downtown. Although ODCA's first choice was to find private office space in Downtown, the Union at Carrollton Square units are their only viable option at this time. ODCA indicates they need an office to better support their activities and provide one location to house all of their office equipment, decorations, and supplies.

The ODCA Board is trying very hard to become more professional and be thought of as more than a neighborhood association. Their mission statement reads: "ODCA exists to preserve, promote, and encourage the civic, social, tourist, commercial and economic welfare in the Historic Downtown Area of the City of Carrollton." They have developed a full calendar of events and activities for the upcoming year. Mrs. McDonald has expressed the Board's frustration in having a laminator in one store, a copier/printer in another, membership materials at one or two other stores, and files at different homes. This grant would enable ODCA to combine all of their materials into one office and to work more efficiently on behalf of Downtown Carrollton.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
