Title
Consider Authorizing The City Manager To Approve A Contract With Dake Construction For The Frankford Road Lift Station Rehabilitation Project In An Amount Not To Exceed $442,250.00.

Body
BACKGROUND:
The Engineering and Public Works Departments routinely identify sanitary sewer system components which, due to age and condition, require replacement. This replacement program is part of an ongoing effort to improve utility service, reduce inflow and infiltration into the sewer system, and reduce the costs of operation and maintenance. Continuing from previous years, lift stations have been the main focus of wastewater rehabilitation efforts. The fifth of these lift stations is the Frankford Road lift station, which is aging and in need of rehabilitation. Included in the improvements will be new pumps, motors, electrical components, and an emergency generator.
The project involves the rehabilitation of an existing lift station in the same location. Therefore, environmental impacts should be minimal. No trees or wildlife will be affected by the construction.

The duration of construction is 180 days. The project has been placed on the monthly Construction Update and on the City's website.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Eight (8) bids were received on January 21, 2016. Bids ranged from a low bid of $442,250.00 by Dake Construction to a high bid of $541,975.00. Dake has not previously completed any projects in Carrollton but their references checked out with satisfactory results. They appear capable of completing this project within the allotted time and budget.

The construction budget originally set up for this project was $500,000.00. Funding for this project is available in Account Unit 855160 (Utility Consolidated), Activity Number 107603799 in the amount of $442,250.00.
