Title

Consider Approval Of An Emergency Procurement Of Services For The Interbasin Wastewater Lift Station Submersible Raw Wastewater Pumps Located At 4573 North Josey Lane.

Body

BACKGROUND:

There are three submersible wastewater pumps at the Interbasin lift station. The pumps were installed in 2002 by Xylem Water Solutions and each pump has a capacity of pumping 3,775 gallons of wastewater per minute. These pumps are utilized to transfer wastewater from the lower elevation of the collection system. Pump #1 failed on April 5, 2016, Xylem Water Solutions were in the process of repairing the pump when pump two failed on May 18, 2016. These concurrent failures left one operational pump at this location which is unacceptable for the capacity and volume that is transferred at this lift station.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:

Pump #1 was repaired at a cost of $ 13,393.09, pump #2 required a complete rebuild at a cost of $23,358.53.

IMPACT ON COMMUNITY SUSTAINABILITY:

With two of the three pumps at this lift station out of service increased the risk of sanitary sewer overflows at this location and the surrounding area.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION/ACTION DESIRED:

Staff recommends compensating Xylem Water Solutions Company in an amount not to exceed $36,751.62 for the repairs of the two pumps from account unit (405001 - 61190).
