Title
Consider Approval Of The Purchase Of One (1) Backhoe Loader Through An Inter-Local Agreement With BuyBoard In An Amount Not To Exceed $69,000.00.
Body
BACKGROUND:
Fleet Services is requesting the purchase of (1) Case backhoe loader from Associated Supply Company through our agreement with BuyBoard. On average backhoe loaders have a life expectancy of 8-12 years. This unit is over 15 years old, and has required over $61,000.00 in repairs. Industry average utilization on large construction equipment of this type varies widely, depending on the type of service application; highway projects, commercial general construction projects, etc. This 2001 backhoe is used by the Athletics Department for irrigation repairs throughout the city.
For competitive purposes quotes were obtained from multiple cooperatives that the city belongs to. Staff recommends moving forward with this purchase using BuyBoard. This cooperative entity meets all State of Texas competitive bidding requirements. Texas law authorizes this process so that the City can save the time of developing specifications and avoid the duplication of the competitive bidding process.
BuyBoard: $69,000.00
HGAC: $72,250.00
