BACKGROUND:
With the recent growth experienced by the City, meter routes have become disproportional resulting in both reading and billing inefficiencies. A Request for Proposals (RFP) for water meter routing optimization software was issued in August 2016. Proposals were received from two companies. The UCS/Meter Shop members reviewed both proposals and viewed demonstrations of their product offering. The recommendation of UCS/Meter Shop is to award RouteSmart Technologies, Inc. the contract. This contract is for a one-time meter routing optimization of all current water utility meters.
The proposed cost for this service is $62,700. The proposal includes language for travel expenses to be billed in actual amounts. The proposal includes estimated travel expenses. As such, a $1,800 contingency is included in the requested approval amount for travel expenses.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
The services covered by this contract will be from budgeted funds in the Utility Fund.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION/ACTION DESIRED:
Approval and authorization for the City Manager to enter into a contract with RouteSmart Technologies, Inc. for water meter routing optimization service in an amount not to exceed $64,500.
