Title
Consider Authorizing The City Manager To Approve A Professional Services Contract With Birkhoff, Hendricks & Carter, Llp For Engineering Design Services For The Huffines Lift Station Replacement Project In An Amount Not To Exceed $85,320.00.

Body
BACKGROUND:
The Engineering and Public Works Departments routinely identify wastewater collection system problems which, due to age and condition, require infrastructure replacement. This replacement program is part of an ongoing effort to improve utility service, reduce inflow and infiltration into the sewer system, and reduce the costs of operation and maintenance. Continuing from previous years, lift stations are now a main focus of rehabilitation efforts. The next lift station on the list is the Huffines lift station located on Huffines Boulevard, south of Hebron Parkway, which was constructed in 1993. This lift station is in need of upgrades to the pumps, electrical system and controls which have been the source of several failures in past years.
Consultant selection was performed using a request for qualifications (RFQ) method whereby engineering firms submitted a two part Statement of Qualifications which was evaluated by a three person committee. The first part contained a project approach, understanding, schedule and similar type projects-completed section without knowing the firm name. This is the last project related to that RFQ.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Birkhoff, Hendricks & Carter, LLP has submitted a proposal to the City to perform the engineering design services for the project in an amount not to exceed $85,320.00. Funding for this project is available in the Utility Consolidated Fund in the amount of $85,320.00.
