Case Coordinator:  Loren Shapiro.

Body

BACKGROUND:

This is a City-initiated request for approval of a resolution acknowledging a request for annexation, setting public hearing dates, and directing staff to prepare a Service Plan with regard to the proposed annexation of approximately 1.078-acres for the east 45-feet of right-of-way of Standridge Drive.

Castle Hills, Phase 9, Section A was developed on the north side of Hebron Parkway in the City of Lewisville’s extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ).  The City of Carrollton owns and maintains Standridge Drive.  On April 20, 2015 the Lewisville City Council relinquished its ETJ to the City of Carrollton for the east 45 feet of Standridge Drive between Hebron Parkway and Polser Road.  The annexation of this land would allow for continuity of emergency and other city services for the entirety of Standridge Drive.

If City Council approves the attached resolution then public hearings will be held on November 1 and 15, 2016.  Adoption of the annexation ordinance is scheduled for December 6, 2016.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION/ACTION DESIRED:

Staff recommends City Council approval of a resolution acknowledging a request for annexation, setting public hearing dates, and instructing staff to prepare a Service Plan for Standridge Drive.
