Title

Consider A Resolution Authorizing The City Manager To Enter Into A Single-Family Rehabilitation Incentive Agreement With Sharon Burnside At 2415 Northshore Drive, In An Amount Not To Exceed $773.44.

Body

BACKGROUND:

In November of 2014, the City Council adopted the Single-Family Rehabilitation Grant Incentive Program to provide financial incentives to homeowners in Neighborhood Empowerment Zones. This program provides payment equivalent to abating a portion of an owner’s annual property taxes, depending on the property value and rehabilitation project expense.

A property owner has applied for a rehabilitation incentive for a driveway replacement. This work will include a complete driveway replacement by the Carrollton Downs Phase 2 NOTICE project contractor.  The homeowner’s property is located within a Neighborhood Empowerment Zone and meets the eligibility requirements of the incentive program. This project represents an estimated investment of $5,500 by the homeowner. Under the recently revised program policy, such routine projects do not require separate review by the Re-Development Sub-Committee prior to City Council action.

IMPACT ON COMMUNITY SUSTAINABILITY:

Rehabilitation projects such as this driveway replacement improves property values and the appearance of the neighborhood. Such expenditures encourage further investment in the community.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION/ACTION DESIRED:
