Consider Approval Of The Purchase Of Three (3) Trucks For Various City Departments From Silsbee Ford Through Inter-Local Agreements With BuyBoard And HGAC In An Amount Not To Exceed $106,479.60.

BACKGROUND:
Fleet Services is requesting the purchase of three (3) trucks assigned to various city departments. The recommended purchase will consist of various Ford models. Of the three vehicles being recommended for purchase, one (1) will be an addition to the fleet as approved in the FY17 budget. Fleet is recommending an F150 that will be utilized in the Environmental Services Community Operations program. The other two (2) vehicles will be retired per Fleet's policy on age, mileage, and maintenance. These trucks are used daily for transporting staff and materials to and from job sites around the city.
Each of these recommended replacements and additions are being made after Fleet Services staff held extensive discussions with operators and managers to properly align vehicle specifications with current business needs.
The trucks are available through multiple cooperatives that the City belongs to and quotes were obtained from each. Staff received quotes for units available through BuyBoard, HGAC, State of Texas and Goodbuy. Staff recommends moving forward with the bid from Silsbee Ford through BuyBoard and HGAC. These cooperatives entity meets all state of Texas competitive bidding requirements. Texas law authorizes this process so that the City can save the time of developing specifications and avoid the duplication of the competitive bidding process.
