Title
Consider A Resolution Authorizing The City Manager To Negotiate And Execute A Service Agreement With Oncor Electric For Construction Services For The Relocation Of Oncor Electric Facilities Near Vandergriff And Elm Streets In Downtown Carrollton In the Amount Of $301,332.36.

Body
BACKGROUND:
In July 2014, City Council authorized the design contract for the replacement of box culverts from just east of Broadway on Vandergriff to IH-35E. This was a continuation of the drainage system installed as part of the Union Square project and replacement of an old, undersized box culvert. The project was subsequently bid and Council awarded the construction contract to McMahon Construction in the amount of $1,170,952.78.

Part of this construction involves the relocation of electric conduits that directly conflict with the proposed construction. While Oncor was made aware of this project over a year ago, staff was recently informed there would be a substantial construction cost to relocate these lines. The cost of this relocation is $301,332.36.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Oncor provided a quote of $301,332.36 to perform this work. The City's contractor is waiting to proceed with the construction as soon as this relocation work is done.

Funding for this project is available in the Streets Consolidated and Drainage Consolidated accounts.

IMPACT ON COMMUNITY SUSTAINABILITY:
This project will contribute to community sustainability by:
* Reduce the potential for flooding in the Downtown area;
* Reduce maintenance of the box culverts constructed with the Union Square project.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION/ACTION DESIRED:
Staff recommends that City Council authorize the City Manager to enter into a service agreement with Oncor Electric for the relocation of electric facilities for the box culvert replacement project at Vandergriff and ...
