Title
Consider Approval Of The Purchase Of Travel Services For The Carrollton Senior Center From Cruise One In An Amount Not To Exceed $85,000.00.
Body
BACKGROUND:
The Carrollton Senior Center has provided a Trip program for approximately 30 years. Due to patron requests, the Senior Center began offering extended stay trips to both domestic and international locations in 2007. Destinations have included: Iceland, France, Alaska, California, Arizona, and more. All trips fully cost recover.
It is being requested to approve funds not to exceed $85,000 toward the purchase of travel services from Cruise One for the Western Caribbean Getaway. The dates for travel are October 27-November 3, 2019. Registration for this trip is scheduled to begin in January, 2019. The cost is $1,799/person for a balcony, $1,544/person for an ocean view, and $1,464/person for an inside stateroom. This price includes trip insurance.
The City has done business with Cruise One. Our most recent trip with Cruise One was for our Great European Adventure with 31 guests enrolled. We have had 3 additional trips in the past with Cruise One, dating back to 2015 for an Alaska Cruise that had 28 guests enrolled. All previous experiences have come with positive feedback from surveys.
Staff obtained three quotes for the trip. When selecting a tour company, staff considered several areas such as cost, exact location of tour, excursions, and customer evaluations on previous trips. There was no HUB vendor.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Funded by trip revenue and budgeted within the 'Seniors on Tour-Long Trips' Account.
Funds requested $85,000
Revenue collected from the participants fully covers the cost of the program.
