BACKGROUND:
This project involves aesthetic improvements to the bridge on Hebron Parkway, between Creek Valley Boulevard and Eisenhower Street. Included in the project is the addition of decorative railing, stone fascia, painting the existing guard rails and the repair of any structural problems identified by the contractor.
The project involves bridge improvements only. Therefore, environmental impacts should be minimal.
The duration of construction is 180 calendar days to allow time to manufacture the decorative railings. The project will not directly affect any residents and has been placed on the monthly Construction Update and is included in the City's web site.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Two (2) bids were received on February 19, 2019. The low bid, in the amount of $559,150.00, was submitted by Iowa Bridge and Culvert, LC, who performed the same type of improvements as part of the 2017 Bridge Aesthetic project. They appear capable of completing this project in the allocated time of 180 calendar days. The engineer's estimate for the project was $500,000. The project includes $60,000 for repairing any structural damage that may be encountered or identified during construction. This project was funded in the FY19 budget.
