Consider A Resolution Adopting Dallas County Elections Department’s Voting System For Use In The City Of Carrollton’s Municipal Elections.

BACKGROUND:
The Dallas County Commissioners Court moved to a new electronic voting system for conducting all elections in Dallas County, including joint, and contracted elections. The voting system was certified by the Texas Secretary of State and by the United States Election Assistance Commission in accordance with Texas Election Code § 123.035. As the City of Carrollton contracts municipal elections with the Dallas County Elections Administration, Texas Election Code § 123.001 requires each political subdivsion to formally adopt the newly acquired voting system for use in City elections.
The attached resolution approves the new voting system for use in the City’s elections. The next City election will be May 2, 2020.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this resolution accepting the Dallas County Election Voting Tabulation System known as the ES&S ExpressVote Universal Voting System.
