Title
Consider Approval Of RFP #20-001 For San Chester Pond Dredging In An Amount Not To Exceed $148,500.00.
Body
BACKGROUND:
This project was approved by council for the FY19 budget. The proposed project is to hydraulically dredge approximately 2,000 cubic yards of accumulated soft sediment in the San Chester Pond. The silt/sediment has built up over the years since this pond collects run-off from the adjoining neighborhood. Water is collected into the pond through a storm drain infall. The pond collects the silt/sediment from the runoff and excess water is then channeled through a storm drain outfall within the pond itself. This storm drain outfall also helps to control the maximum capacity of the pond. Excessive silt/sediment in a pond depletes the water of necessary oxygen for existing wildlife while also causing the pond to lose depth and become shallow. The dredge will increase the depth between 2-4’ in some areas.
PondMedics Inc, worked with us as a consultant to provide specifications and construction documents. Proposals were advertised and received from multiple vendors of which one was selected based on price, experience and references.
A 10% contingency has been included in the budget.
