Consider Approval Of The Purchase Of Nine (9) Vehicles For Various City Departments From Sam Pack Five Star Ford Through An Inter-Local Agreement With Tarrant County Purchasing Cooperative In An Amount Not To Exceed $312,884.00.

BACKGROUND: Fleet Services is requesting the purchase of four (4) vehicles assigned to the Public Works Department, three (3) vans assigned to the Facilities Department, one (1) truck assigned to the Environmental Services Department and one (1) Expedition (addition to budget) for the Police Department. The recommended purchase will consist of one (1) F-150, two (2) F-250's, one (1) F-450 and one (1) F-350 with various body configurations. Facilities will be downsizing from their current F-250 vans to Transit Connect vans. The current vehicles in the fleet will be retired per Fleet's policy on age, mileage, and maintenance. The current vehicles being replaced average thirteen (13) years in age.
These trucks are used daily for transporting staff, towing trailers and equipment to and from job sites. Vehicles such as these are the basic backbone of the City fleet. These recommended replacements are being made after discussions with operators and managers to properly align vehicle specifications with current business needs.
Staff recommends moving forward with the bid from Sam Pack Five Star Ford through the Tarrant County purchasing agreement. This cooperative entity meets all state of Texas competitive bidding requirements.
