Title
Consider Approval Of The Purchase Of An Enterprise Class Hyper Converged Server Infrastructure Refresh To Accommodate Current And Future Needs Through A Texas DIR TSO-4288 Cooperative Agreement With Nutanix In An Amount Not To Exceed $778,656.98.
Body
BACKGROUND:
Our current server and storage technologies at Carrollton are both end-of life and antiquated, following a much older model of tiered infrastructure that has significant operating limitations given advances in technology and significant increases in the amount of data stored.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
The leader in this field of technology is Nutanix, providing an end to end solution that outpaces their competitors in service offerings while being affordable and is in use by most of our neighboring cities and counties due to its ease of administration and overall value.
IMPACT ON COMMUNITY SUSTAINABILITY:
If this is not awarded, the unsupported hardware will lose not only support from the manufacturer, but create a point of failure with applications leaving the City at risk of outages in the event of failures, with potentially no option to recover as well as introducing vulnerabilities due to lack of updates and patching.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION/ACTION DESIRED:
Due to the inhouse expertise and its market share and status as the leader in this field of technology, information technology recommends the purchase of Nutanix Hyper-Converged Infrastructure off an existing DIR TSO-4288 to FreeIt Data Solutions for a five-year total cost of ownership of $778,656.98
