BACKGROUND:
Fleet Services is requesting the purchase of two (2) trucks assigned to the Public Works Department. The existing vehicles will be replaced due to Fleet policy on age, mileage and repair costs. Unit 4182 is a 2007 Dodge Dakota with 101,017 miles and Unit 4192 is a 2008 Ford Escape with 101,116 miles. These trucks will be used daily for transporting staff and materials to and from job sites around the city. The request to purchase these vehicles is being made after extensive discussions with operators and managers to properly align vehicle specifications with current business needs.

The trucks are available through multiple cooperatives that the City belongs to and quotes were obtained from Lake Country Chevrolet. Staff received quotes for units available through TIPS Purchasing Cooperative and an RFP with the State of Texas. Staff recommends moving forward with Lake Country Chevrolet through TIPS Purchasing Cooperative. This cooperative entity meets all state of Texas competitive bidding requirements. Texas law authorizes this process so that the City can save the time of developing specifications and avoid the duplication of efforts in the competitive bidding process.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
The trucks will be purchased from budgeted funds from the Fleet Replacement Fund.
