BACKGROUND:
Fleet Services is requesting the purchase of one (1) Caterpillar 953K Track loader from Holt Caterpillar for the Drainage Division of Public Works. This unit will replace unit 7555 which is a 2007 track loader. This piece of equipment has an average life span of 10 years. Discussions with the department identified that this piece of equipment was critical to Drainage who will use this piece of equipment daily working on drainage projects across the City.
After discussion with Public Works staff, the Caterpillar 953K Track Loader was chosen. Staff requested quotes from Holt Caterpillar on two purchasing cooperatives. After reviewing the quotes, staff recommends purchasing through the Sourcewell purchasing cooperative. This cooperative purchasing entity meets all state of Texas competitive bidding requirements.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
This piece of equipment will be purchased from budgeted funds from the Fleet Replacement account.
IMPACT ON COMMUNITY SUSTAINABILITY:
Purchasing the right vehicles and equipment for the job such as this, ensures that City employees have the resources necessary to do their job, which is a Council Strategic goal.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION/ACTION DESIRED:
Staff recommends approval to purchase one (1) Caterpillar 953K Track Loader from Holt Caterpillar through an interlocal agreement with Sourcewell Purchasing Cooperative in an amount not to exceed $239,637.00.
