Consider Approval Of The Purchase Of Four (4) Vehicles From Sam Pack Five Star Ford Through An Inter-Local Agreement With BuyBoard Purchasing Cooperative In An Amount Not To Exceed $161,951.10.

BACKGROUND:
Fleet Services is requesting the purchase of four (4) vehicles assigned to the Public Works Department. The recommended purchase will consist of two (2) F-250's, and two (2) F-350's with various body configurations. The current vehicles in the fleet will be retired per Fleet's policy on age, mileage, and maintenance. The average expected life span of these type of vehicles is ten (10) years. The current vehicles being replaced average twelve (12) years in age.
These trucks are used daily for transporting staff, towing trailers and equipment to and from job sites. Vehicles such as these are the basic backbone of the City fleet. The recommended replacements are being made after discussions with operators and managers to properly align vehicle specifications with current business needs.
Staff recommends moving forward with the bid from Sam Pack Five Star Ford through the BuyBoard cooperative purchasing agreement. This cooperative purchasing entity meets all state of Texas competitive bidding requirements. Use of cooperative purchasing agencies is allowed under Texas state law.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
The trucks will be purchased from budgeted funds from the Fleet Replacement fund.
