BACKGROUND:
The City's Comprehensive Fee Schedule Section B establishes user fees for various permits required for completing construction-related projects. Due to the severe winter weather experienced February 14 through February 19, 2021, many Carrollton residents and businesses experienced significant plumbing damage. In an effort to relieve some of the financial impact caused by the storm, staff is recommending a temporary waiver of all leak-related permit fees for residential and commercial customers.

Customers can apply for leak adjustments through the Utility Customer Service. To encourage customers to repair leaks as soon as possible for water conservation efforts, the customer must have the leak repaired within 90 days of the received water bill indicating a leak occurred. Depending on the type of leak, a permit may be required for the repair. Staff suggests the leak-related permit fees be waived for the same 90-day period. Because of the billing cycles set in place, the 90-day period will end for all residents on June 8, 2021. By setting the effective date through Friday, June11, the City is providing a few days grace period to account for any unforeseen circumstances.

The following permit fees will be included in the waiver
Irrigation $4.00 per $1000.00 valuation (maximum of 75.00)
Plumbing $4.00 per $1,000.00 valuation (maximum $75.00)
