Title

Present LEED For Cities Gold-Level Certification Plaque To Mayor Steve Babick And Certificates To City Staff.

Body

BACKGROUND:

The presentation of the LEED Gold Certification plaque provides an opportunity for the City of Carrollton to formally celebrate its achievement in environmental sustainability and recognize the collaborative efforts of City staff across multiple departments. This marks the City’s first-ever LEED for Cities certification and reflects the coordinated work to advance sustainability, equity, resilience, and public health through data-driven strategies and performance tracking to achieve this certification.

The City of Carrollton was awarded Gold-level certification through the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED for Cities program in April 2025. This certification acknowledges excellence in areas such as energy efficiency, water conservation, transportation access, community engagement, and environmental stewardship.

STAFF RECOMMENDATION/ACTION DESIRED:

Jonathan Kraatz, Executive Director of the North Texas Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council, will present the certification plaque to Mayor Steve Babick. In addition, City staff who contributed to the effort will be recognized for their role in achieving this milestone.
