Consider Authorizing The City Manager To Approve A Contract With McMahon Contracting, L.P. Inc. For The Palo Alto Park NOTICE Street Reconstruction Project, Phase 1, In An Amount Not To Exceed $3,936,445.48.
Body
BACKGROUND:
This is a NOTICE project and will be constructed in two phases. This project will provide for the reconstruction of six streets and two alleys in the Palo Alto Park Subdivision and includes the streets of Tecumseh Trail, Sequoyah Way, Terry Way, Geronimo Arrow, Osceola Trail and Pontiac and the alleys south of Osceola and Rosewood. Phase 1 will include replacing approximately 7,090 linear feet of existing street pavement and sidewalks, 2,900 linear feet of alleys and 2,200 linear feet of sewer lines. The water lines have previously been replaced.
The project involves the removal and replacement of existing pavement; therefore, environmental impacts should be minimal. No trees should be removed and no wildlife will be affected by the construction.
The duration of construction is twelve months and construction will be performed so that all the streets will not be under construction at one time. Project signs will be placed at the entrances to the subdivision while it is under construction. The project has been placed on the monthly Construction Update and is included in the City's web site. All residents will be notified in writing regarding the construction schedule prior to the start of construction. Also, a preconstruction meeting with the homeowners and the contractor will be held prior to construction. Additional handouts will be distributed as required during the course of the project.
